In celebration of Labor Day weekend, Avocados from Peru treated baseball fans to a free topping of Peruvian avocados with the purchase of a hot dog, salad, nachos and more during the New York Yankees series vs. the Detroit Tigers at Yankee Stadium in New York City. The ‘Avodog’, a variation on the classic hot dog, has already proven to be enormously popular with baseball fans. Baltimore Orioles fans previously devoured hundreds of fresh Peruvian Avocados during a game against the Tampa Bay Rays in Oriole Park at Camden Yards earlier this season.

Along with providing free Peruvian avocado toppings, AFP also took over the WCBS-FM 101.1 homepage, airing promotional videos inside and oustide the stadium, marking a first in the category. It further hosted “Text to Win” contests throughout the games on Sept. 1 and Sept. 2, giving away AFP prize packs to various lucky winners.

Coincidentally, the season for the Peruvain Avocados runs from May to September, just like baseball. You might say this makes baseball and Superfood Peruvian avocados a naturally delicious and nutritious summer double play!
